More research has been done into just how much extra fuel is used when travelling above the optimal speed of 56mph. The average motorist is spending £1000's more by driving at higher speeds. The costs to fleet operators is even greater. Fitting a top speed limiter alone can help reduce these fuel costs, but an even greater advantage can be gained from adding an RPM limiter on as well. The combination of a reduced top speed and reducing the engine revs can make significant fuel savings and reductions in CO2 emissions.
